Guest Guidelines

the lookout rules

  • Respect the space. Please leave your site, outdoor kitchen, shower, and gathering area clean and ready for the next guests. Put trash in the designated containers. The dumpster by the entrance is shared by The Lookout and the neighboring vacation rental.
  • Quiet hours are 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. On ordinary nights, please keep voices, music, vehicles, and setup noise low enough that neighboring guests can rest. Keep music and conversation at a comfortable volume at other times, too. No loud parties at your site-unless it's the Fourth of July celebration. Then all bets are off!
  • A heads-up about the Fourth of July: The Lookout is in the middle of downtown Crouch, where Fourth of July celebrations can be loud and continue well into the early morning—sometimes until around 4 a.m. Expect music, crowds, and fireworks nearby. If your pet is sensitive to noise, please plan ahead and bring any veterinarian-prescribed medication or comfort items they may need.
  • No fuel-powered generators. Our sites have electrical hookups, so gasoline, diesel, and propane generators may not be operated on the property. Quiet solar generators or portable power stations are welcome.
  • Respect other guests’ sites. Please don’t walk through another guest’s site as a shortcut. Turn off bright exterior lights when you don’t need them, and be mindful of where your campfire smoke travels.
  • Use the fire pit safely. Keep fires within the fire pit and attend them at all times. Burn only firewood, and fully extinguish your fire before leaving the site or going to bed. Follow any fire restrictions in effect during your stay. An ABC fire extinguisher is under the outdoor kitchen sink. If a fire spreads beyond the pit, move to safety and call 911.
  • Take care of the fireside gear. Blankets, roasting sticks, and a wagon are provided for your use at the site. Please keep blankets off the ground and away from flames. Supervise children using roasting sticks, point them away from other people, and let them cool before cleaning and returning them. Leave all provided gear at your site for the next guests.
  • Use our local firewood. To help prevent the spread of pests, please do not bring firewood from outside the area. Your stay includes 10 pieces of split wood. Additional pieces are $1 each; you may pay online or leave payment in the can beside the wood. We use the honor system.
  • Keep dogs secure. Dogs must be inside your fenced yard or RV. Outside those areas, please keep them on a leash. Don’t leave dogs outside unattended or barking. Please pick up after your dog every time, including inside your fenced yard. Pet waste bags are provided at the gate; tie used bags securely and put them in the dumpster by the entrance. Please do not leave used bags beside the dispenser or anywhere on the property.
  • Be aware of wildlife. Wildlife may pass through the area, even though The Lookout is in town. Do not feed or approach animals. Put food and pet food away when you’re finished, clean up cooking scraps, and place trash in the dumpster. Keep pets close, especially after dark.
  • Smoking is allowed; littering is not. You may smoke inside your own RV or outdoors. Please use an ashtray and dispose of all cigarette butts safely. Do not leave butts on the ground or put them in the fire pit.
  • Use the outdoor kitchen responsibly. Turn off the grill, griddle, and burner when you finish cooking. Clean the cooking surfaces and put food waste in the trash.
  • Use the RV connections properly. Secure your sewer connection and empty wastewater only through the designated sewer hookup. Never drain wastewater onto the ground. Electrical hookups are for RV use and may not be used to charge electric vehicles.
  • Drive slowly and park in designated areas. Our speed limit is 5 mph. Watch for people and pets. Keep vehicles on the access route and your assigned pad or parking space; do not block the road or another site. Please respect the landscaping, fences, and neighboring property.
  • Let us know about visitors. Please notify us before inviting visitors to the property so we can direct them to an appropriate parking area. Only registered guests may stay overnight.
  • Use your site within its posted limits. Confirm that your RV or adventure vehicle fits the dimensions and clearance requirements for the site you book. Guests are responsible for damage caused by their vehicles or equipment. Hideaway guests will receive its measurements when booking and must acknowledge that their vehicle fits.
